Over 7,000 households displaced can not return to their villages of origin. They are blocked because of insecurity in Greater Kitshanga straddles the territories of Masisi and Rutshuru, about a hundred miles north-west of Goma. These displaced require the security of their home villages for their return. They presented this complaint to the Deputy Special Representative of UN Secretary General in the DRC, on a working visit in this area.

Over 3,400 displaced households living in the camp of Kahe, 4000 other than in Mungote in that same conurbation. They claim to live in difficult conditions because the security situation does not yet allow it to return to their villages of origin.
One of them said: It is not always safety in our places of origin. This is what prevents us from returning. There are rebels who are there, they kill, loot and rape.
The Deputy Special Representative says affected by the situation of those displaced.
Faithful Sarassoro promises to invest more effort in the humanitarian response: We must admit there is an improvement of the situation. I think there are still challenges that remain. Therefore on my return to Kinshasa, I would have a meeting with the humanitarian community to see how accentuate more in this area here.
